Ubuntu has been my system of choice for years - work and home. The few times at work that I’ve used Vista my stomach turned. =) By the way ubuntube.net has wonderful clips of Ubuntu in action. Beryl & Cairo-Dock categories are my favorite. Disclaimer: yes I put the site up. yes I’m a geek for putting up a site showing videos of Ubuntu Linux.
A - motherfucking - men! I got a Inspiron 1420 with Vista recently and the thing chomps my balls. They’re not kidding with the revolving error screens.
No problems with Vista here, runs smooth as silk for me. The problem is that PC manufacturers are bundling Vista with machines that have 1 gig of ram and shared graphics. With those specs, it’s almost guaranteed a user’s experience with Vista is going to be bad.
It’s just like when XP came out, you needed better and faster hardware to run it.
I am a recent laptop purchaser. It came with Vista. I hate it so much that I am paying $200 MORE to get XP back! Spinning circles drove me crazy. It was a very frustrating experience for the 70 year old who is not a geek but has been using computers for 20 years!!!!

I just bought a new HP laptop (with Vista) and had all intentions of wiping it out and putting XP on but Vista hasnt been as bad as i expected.
One thing thats very annoying is they seem to have made everything that was previously a 1 step process and made it into a 3 or 4 step process.

Shouldnt have to get better hardware for pretty much the same or worse functionality as XP.
