Still Can’t Make Money With Facebook Ads?
Posted on March 1st, 2008 in Facebook
People ask almost every day, “Nicky, you still making money on Facebook?” Let’s put it this way, Nickycakes is still smokin these offers like jimmy dean.
The most common thing people are asking is “What kind of offers can I run on Facebook?” Dating was doing really well for a while, but now they’ve changed the rules on what ads they accept and it’s pretty much dead from oversaturation. So what can you promote?
Nickycakes had lunch with Jaeson at Neverblue at Affiliate Summit and talked about a new offer they got going starting today. It’s called Instant Action Games. They tested it internally on FB and it converted pretty well. The payout is $1.50 to start which seems a little low, zip submit low even, but if you take a look at the landing page, you’ll know why it converts so well. So the Cakes threw a little traffic at it today, and whaddya-know? Converted pretty damn well. Unfortunately Nicky’s daily budget is getting filled every day promoting a different offer so he can’t really invest in this one.
No need for any tricky cloaking, facebook mods seem to like this offer with almost any ad copy you come up with. If you’re still wondering exactly how to promote this, here’s a walkthrough for morons:
- If you’re not already signed up with Neverblue, do so by clicking here. If you are having a tough time getting approved, hit up nickycakes on IRC or MSN messenger and he’ll get you hooked up.
- Sign into Neverblue and find the Instant Action offer by going to the Campaigns -> Gaming section. Get your tracking link from the Search Creatives tab.
- Sign into Facebook, click Advertisers at the bottom, and get started making your ad. You’ll need a 110×80px image and some good ad copy. Here are some ad images Cakes made directly from the banner creatives on Neverblue. Feel free to use them:

For ad titles, here are a few examples that might work: “Beta Testers Needed”, “Beta Test”, “Reserve Your Username”, “Game of the Year 2008″, “Better Than HalfLife 2″.
For the ad description, just keep it simple. - Set your demographic information…guys obviously, and remember that leads are accepted from Canada and UK too. Seems like they accept under 18 signups too, making this offer completely gold for facebook since under 18 and outside the US demographics are completely unsaturated and you can get a metric fuckton of cheap clicks.
- Profit.
Keep it real.

Very nice. I’m going to give this a shot.
I made a pretty decent killing in FB Ads a while back.
My recommendation, promote offers outside of the US that FB can’t get to.
Things that say “Offer not available in your area,” work well. So target your traffic accordingly.
Btw, I think they changed the way their developers visit. I’ve gotten traffic from dev0001.facebook.

Son, you need to work on 2-D composition. Is there a design class that you can take there at Harvard?

[…] to ‘the Cakes‘ for this reminder. I actually received an email from my Affiliate Manager about the offer […]

Anyone notice the min bid steadily rising? Maybe it was just the last few offers I tried.

Dude?! WTF?
Don’t out offers like this.
March 2nd, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Thanks for this post…How much do you recommend bidding for a conversion at $1.50?

@Tob:
I’m really sorry if you’re running this offer and it’s your only source of income or something, but the real goal of this blog is to help relative newbs to get into the game. Facebook ads are really easy to get started with and I look for decent offers like this to share with people to get them started. This offer isn’t going to give you 5:1 conversions, which is why I am not running it (i’d be stupid to share an offer like that) but it will make some decent money, and there is plenty of room for other people to promote it. Anytime someone shares an offer or niche they’re banking on and asks me not to share it with anyone, I never do. I hate screwing over other affiliates, and it’s simply not my style. I am genuinely sorry if this is really fucking up your profits, but there’s not much I can do. Cat’s out of the bag on this one.

You’re a piece of shit offer ruiner. I’m going to call you the Offer Killer.
March 2nd, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Ya ya… problem is your readers can’t afford the margins on this offer. So they will be bidding like newbs and fucking the party up for the rest of us.
BTW, there is a cap on the offer, and it’s small.
March 2nd, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Well the fb bidding has pretty much leveled out and competition is enormous for the large demographics, so I’d not be too worried about a few readers of this blog driving the bid prices up.
First I’ve heard of a lead cap, though

I just got word from NBA affiliate management that for that particular offer they don’t offer increased payouts for any affiliate.

If a newbie can’t figure out how to convert this one…
Too funny…

If so, the guy has some skills!

Oh good job, you just killed my gold mine. Jackass!
March 5th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
$1.50CPA x 1,000 people running it simulatenously = LOL.
Just got off the phone with Jaeson at NeverBlue. He mentioned something about the ad become really saturated. We’ll see how it holds up.
March 5th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Nickycakes, so you’re not that big of dick like you seem to be on Wickedfire - thanks for the offer man, but I would hate to compete with 1000 other pros.
March 6th, 2008 at 10:20 am
I just hope that InstantAction is getting quality leads out of all of this. They’ve got a pretty cool product that has a lot of potential.
March 6th, 2008 at 11:53 am
They must have a pretty HUGE budget too.
March 6th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
They have a reported budget of $50-100 million, so yeah, they’ve got some money to throw around.
March 6th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
The $50-100 million is for the entire thing (development of games and infrastructure), not just advertising.
March 7th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Can anyone confirm what Dan said above? Do we need to change our cloaking to dev0001.facebook now in the redirect script?
March 10th, 2008 at 9:34 am
$100 million? Well shit, time to ramp up the traffic
March 15th, 2008 at 8:06 am
LMAO, I can’t get this offer to convert. only 1/10 sign up and My demographic is def not the problem, it’s targeted and got a .25CTR.
Trying it with a landing page that tells them more about the game and has screenshots + youtube videos to see if it gets them to sign up.

[…] Nicky Cakes is a “reformed blackhat” and is running an interesting blog. His most popular posts discusses how to make money using facebook ads and ad networks such as NeverBlue Ads. I tried this a few weeks ago, and just ended up wasting $1.66. No one clicks on facebook and I got no conversions. Check out his post here. […]
