Roll Your Own Datafeed Site

Back in early November, Nickycakes did a post about using a cool wordpress plugin to generate product sites using datafeeds from networks like Shareasale, Linkshare, and Commission Junction.
Well, the guy who made the plugin in that post has since sold it, and the pricing has been changed around some other stuff, so who knows if it’s reliable anymore.
Luckily, it’s not that hard to whip up your own datafeed site with basic knowledge of PHP/Mysql, and an account on an affiliate network that offers datafeeds. But where to get started?
Well, one of the runners up for affiliate of the year, who is also one of the hosts of the Both Sides of the Tracks Podcast that Nickycakes was recently on, Eric Nagel, has put together a step-by-step tutorial on doing just that.
Here‘s the first post in the series, which you can follow all the way to the end through his blog. If you’re struggling with ppc and need a more robust, long-lasting alternative, then SEO driven revshare sites based on datafeeds might be what you’re looking for. They definitely take time, but are not hard to throw together at all, and if you outsource the SEO work, you could probably make a solid business out of it.
Keep it real.

Thanks cakes. Many internet marketers are struggling with diversifying their business, and building some solid, product-oriented sites is definitely a great plan (especially if you don't have to deal with the customers yourself).
Keep it real.
i've been modding that all week lol. its definately a solid set of tutorials and code to get you started. just add feeds and traffic
Thanks dude. Recently became a fan of yours. Keep it goin'.
Pimptastic!
Yeah, I would say physical products are probably a more secure long term option than some of the cpa offers.
Beginners always want to go straight for electronics. I would say stay away from things like televisions and laptops though. Margins are tight as shit and competition is fierce as hell. You are going up against several multi billion dollar companies.
Peace out
Exactly. I was actually working on a product store (drop-shipping) last year, but that fell through. I am definitely giving it additional consideration now though.
Dear Nick,
I read your interview at jonathanvolk.com and was impressed. It seems that you are interested in helping the needy. I’ve been trying to help a number of poor people out of my factory worker’s salary now for years. They need more and more help and I have pretty much the same salary. Some of them are getting suicidal because there isn’t enough money to go around any more. This is the gospel truth, so I hope you believe me. I’ve been reading a lot about the Facebook marketing at jonathanvolk and elsewhere and would like to try it but have no capital whatsoever to get started. I think I could succeed at that but I don’t know when I will ever have any extra money to get started. My phone number is 715-228-3185 if you would like to talk with me personally. I’m usually around in the mornings before work. Or you could donate some money to me at my website above. People are depending on me and I don’t want to let them down. If you could help me out with at least $600 loan or gift, the more the better, I would really appreciate it. I’m getting pretty desperate.
Dat iz phunee
Just to note, the plugin (WFReview) is more reliable than before since the new owner is a highly regarded programmer.
highly regarded by who?
Says the readers of his book on Ruby:

Anybody like CSV 2 Post and Datafeedr? I'm trying to decide between the two plugins.
datafeedr is a strong option. Recurring billing might turn some people off but hiring someone to code most of those features for me & stay on top of network changes more than offset the cost.
just a quick question. why do you refer to yourself in the third person?? i have been wondering that since it is nicky cakes that writes the post, he would use i instead of nickycakes
Datafeed sites seem to be the new rage. I keep hearing about them all over the place. Thanks for the heads up on how to do it yourself without a fancy plugin.
