Rental Man – Douchebag Marketing
Last night, Nickycakes was able to get awesome tickets with his buddies in LA to the first game of the Lakers conference finals vs the Spurs. The seats were like 15 rows back, and it was one of the best games the Cakes has ever watched. The Lakers came back from a 20 point deficit in the 3rd quarter to beat the Spurs 89-85. The crowd was on fire, the cheerleaders were smokin and Tim Duncan got more boo’s than Danny Bonaduce’s shopping list. There were a bunch of celebs there and Nicky did a double take when Tobey Maguire walked past him (like 2 feet away) when leaving the staples center.
Anyway, that’s not the point of this post. During the game there was this idiot who would get up during every break in game and dance like a complete asshat. He had a shirt on advertising some company called Westside Rentals and had various props like mickey mouse hands and a finding nemo hat that he would rotate through during the game. Nickycakes’ buddies informed him that rental man was paid by the rental company to appear at pretty much every sporting event in the area and dance like a moron for the entire game. Anyone sitting behind/near this idiot automatically have the game ruined by the schmuck waving his arms around like a retard the whole time. And to top things all off, even with his years of sporting event dancing experience, his dance moves are terrible.
Nickycakes was able to capture a short video of rental man with his phone during a timeout in the lakers game. But he’s not the first person to catch this guy in action. The video is a little fuzzy, but you can see the guy in the middle being a retard. Youtube has video after video of rental man acting like a douche. @Anon, the ultimate form of spam at a sporting event would be this. Run onto the field in the middle of the Superbowl with a megaphone screaming the name of your website. So worth the jail time…potentially.
This guy must be like 1/2 retarded. How can you dance around for that long and not just feel stupid. He must get a good cardio workout from all the flailing though.
This did make me laugh. I’m surpised they let this guy in the stadium game after game since he’s a disruption.

What a toolbox… How has this guy not been knocked out by someone already? He’s ruining the event for people that paid good money for their seats. Maybe it’s different in LA but in NY I can’t see him staying on his feet for too long.
Why hasn’t that guy got a serious beat down by now?
I think he’s been banned.
Also, what sucks about this type of marketing is that people tend to remember Rental Man but not necessarily the company he’s advertising.
