New Fun Hobby: RC Planes
About a year ago, Nickycakes saw a video of a guy with a camera strapped to a remote control flying wing flying around buildings and bridges in NYC. Â It looked really really fun, so after putting it off until recently, here’s a video shot yesterday with a GoPro HD camera strapped to the top of a flying wing.

The next step is to make the plane transmit the video back to the ground and control the plane while watching through video goggles.

That's cool. I actually felt a little airsick for a minute though, wild. While back I saw some guys who use a RC helicopter to film offroad truck racing (like moto-cross course but for trucks) and they would hover by the jumps and catch the action. cool.

There’s a company here in NZ that uses image stabalizing cameras and remote control helicopters to make some pretty cool shots, they have videos of parkour guys and all sorts of things.
Also check out the videos of the guy flying his plane from a cruise in Rio around skyscrapers, he’s like a wizard with that stuff.
That was really cool to watch!
Question, what’s the actual range of the remote controls?
I haven’t tested exactly how far it goes, but with the equipment I have, it will go further than I can see the plane. I’m guessing at least a mile.
