New Design and Stuff
At long last Nickycakes has ditched the old theme that he hacked up off of some free theme site and had a real one made.
The new one has some jazzy new features that you will learn to love in time. For one, there are now nested comments. This is probably the most important change. Before nested comments, it was nearly impossible to start and win arguments effectively, which really takes away from the value of commenting. Now you can flame retards with ease with a few clicks of the mouse and have your comment show up as a direct response to theirs.
You may also notice that the front page no longer shows full posts but just has excerpts. This will force you to click your mouse an extra time to read the article which hopefully annoys you and provides a larger barrier of entry to prevent mouthbreathers at digital point from getting too much information. It will also help boost nickycakes’ pageviews which will artificially inflate the resale value of the site once nicky decides to ditch you all and sell this thing. Speaking of overvaluation, ad spots are now $100 a month, and working properly. This is actually a much more than fair price for the amount of high quality traffic this site drives.
Also, for those who keep asking, Nicky will not be at Adtech this week in NYC but will be at ASW in January for sure.

Glad to see you weigh in on the TechCrunch debate. It’s funny how FB game apps are flamed for making money the same way Google made money to drive to it’s IPO (and let’s be honest, they still make money that way). I’m fairly certain that rebill offers are what has financed the entire internet. Well, that and pr0n.

It’s just a minor quibble. Like your Red Nicky Cakes logo at the bottom seems sharp, but the text for “*name”, “submit” and “Subscribe by email” etc do not look sharp on my screen. But perhaps that was the intent.

Nothing to hide. I mostly just sell ad spots to my friends. If you don’t want one, please, by all means, don’t buy one. It’s not a significant source of income for me.

Honestly I hate wordpress categories. I hate having to categorize my posts, and eventually end up just putting them into one of like 3 categories which will eventually have 1000 posts in each and be meaningless. I might bring back the chronological order list, but thats not much better. The search function works though, right?
