Jan Stats and Recap and Feb Goals
Posted on February 1st, 2008 in General
If you're tired of refreshing this page every day like a d-bag, you should probably subscribe to the RSS feed.
January was a good month for Nickycakes.
The Blog:
As far as this site is concerned, subscribers have doubled from the beginning of the month at around 100 to over 200 now.

Traffic details for January are a little complicated. Back in December, hostgator got pissed because Nickycakes may or may not have been running 80+ blogs on the same shared hosting account as this website and decided to suspend the account till he fixed the problem. In an effort to get the site back online as quickly as possible, and being far too lazy to backup and port over all those blogs to different hosting, the Cakes 301 redirected every page of that domain to this page and brought the whole thing back online. Overnight, unique visitors went from 144 to 1468. A 1019% increase in traffic isn’t bad! Anyway, what was happening was this: All the searches that the old blogs were ranking for were now bringing up this domain instead, and slowly since then, the site has been de-ranking for these search terms. At the same time, this blog has been growing in popularity and gaining readership. The result is a fairly even traffic graph for the past month as the searches for the old sites die out and readership for this blog grows. Other than that, it’s been pretty normal other than the spike in traffic around the 25th when the Sphinn dramabomb post hit the frontpage.

So yeah, overall Nickycakes is happy with the progress so far.
Profits:
A few days ago, Nickycakes passed the $10,000 revenue mark for his online marketing ventures. Having only been in the game for 6 months, this isn’t a bad number to be at. How much of that was profit? Let’s just say it wasn’t a loss ;]
February Goals:
Nickycakes has a few good ideas in the works for February. As far as monetary goals, he’d like to hit the $10,000 a month goal in revenue, and is well on his way. Getting more into YSM/Adwords is another big goal for the month. Currently the Cakes is doing mostly facebook ads stuff still and would like to start dominating another market. He’s currently writing some cool php tools for building keyword lists and will be releasing those soon(tm). Posting something readable on here every day is the goal for the blog. If none of the other goals are met, hopefully that one will.
Affiliate Summit West is coming up too, and the Cakes is excited to be hitting that up and meeting other people from the industry, especially the wickedfire peeps.
Keep it real.

Nicky ur killing, that must be exciting to see readership keep climbing, especially the almost looking exponential increases at the end. It will be fun to see you at 1000 RSS readers sometime soon, you can do it

PS: and I don’t count as a reader, I don’t even use RSS, I just come to blog manually every time and everyone’ else’s. So make sure to add +1 for that onto each list lol!

That is a good spike in your rss count. is there any special reason for it? It’s just im hold an rss competition with 4 other bloggers and wouldnt mind some pointers

cakes,
“Getting more into YSM/Adwords is another big goal for the month”
Been doing this for about 2 months now. I say start with YSM as it takes much time to set up direct linking campaigns and rolling…
I’m Netting about $200-$250 a day now just from yahoo and a touch of MSN. Yahoo is pretty easy to make green on, especially if you use a $100 voucher for everything you test. You almost CAN’T lose money that way (while your testing)
