Affiliate Summit West – You Going?

Affiliate Summit West is an affiliate marketing conference being held at the Rio in Las Vegas, Feb 24-26. If, like Nickycakes, you’ve never been to been to one of these things before, here’s what you can expect. Tons of affiliate marketers from around the country (and probably world) come to hang out and meet with other people in the industry. Pretty much every affiliate network is represented by at least a few employees, which gives you the opportunity to meet them and make new contacts. There are panels and stuff by some of the top guys in the industry. There are talks about everything from PPC marketing, domaining, getting higher payouts from affiliate networks, social media, and tons of others. There will also be a lot of hanging out, partying, and whatever else generally goes on in vegas.

This will be the Cakes’ first conference appearance and there are a few things he’s definitely looking forward to hitting up. First, there’s a session called “Managing Your Affiliate Manager”. The description for this one is “To get the best returns for your affiliate efforts you need to manage your affiliate managers. Learn how to get better service, higher commissions, and communication with merchants on your terms.” Knowing how to deal with your contact at the affiliate network you use is key. Being able to get higher payouts for your best converting offers can, and will, make you a lot more money.

One panel that Nickycakes noticed was “Super Affiliate Strategies That Work.” The speakers are going to be John Chow, Amit Mehta, Kris Jones, and Zac Johnson, from what I hear. John Chow, and Amit Mehta, as most of you know, run two of the most worthless internet marketing blogs currently on the net. John will most likely be talking about how he makes posts about what he eats for lunch so he can write it off on his taxes as a business expense, and who knows what Amit will be discussing. Probably nothing. Zac Johnson, however, generally keeps it real and has tons of good stuff on his blog to help newbie affiliate marketers out, so Cakes will be in attendance to show his support as a frequent reader of his blog.

There are a bunch of other sessions that look hot, so you should probably check them out. Not to mention, a bunch of the guys from wickedfire will be there, and you can’t go wrong with that.

If you’ve never been to one of these conferences, they’re apparently worth 10 times more than what you pay for to go there. The contacts you can make, and new ideas you get by going will turn you from an adsense newb into a pro, if you’re not an idiot. Also, you will get to hang out with Nickycakes, so it’s certainly worth the trip.

You must be 21 to attend, which is good for the Cakes because the last thing he needs is Kidblogger trying to jump him in the parking lot for smack talking him in the top 10 worst post.

If you haven’t already, go get yourself a ticket and go. You won’t regret it.
