Affiliate Summit West - Vegas Baby, Vegas…

Well, it looks like Affiliate Summit West, which starts this Sunday in Vegas is going to sell out today. As of this morning, there were only 50 or so passes left, so if you’re planning on going and buying a pass when you arrive, think again. If you miss out on this one, you’ll have to come kick it with Nickycakes at Affiliate Summit East in his hood in Boston.

Ok, so the Cakes will be arriving sometime Sunday morning. Not really sure what to do, but there seem to be a lot of things going on. There are a bunch of parties, one with Blue Man Group performing (apparently they have some sort of affiliate program haha). Going to have a few lunches with managers from a few networks while I’m there, including Advaliant and Neverblue. No plans for lunch on Monday, though, so maybe some of the homies from WF want to go out and grab some grub.

Apparently everyone goes home on tues, but the Cakes is stayin till Wed. Here are some tips for the conference, most of which Andrew Wee posted on WF:

1. Vegas Throat - No, this isn’t the virus you get from making out with too many vegas hookers (well hopefully not, anyway.) The air is really dry so drink lots of water or juice and get some throat drops or something if you start losing your voice
2. Comfortable Shoes - There’s lots of walking going on, so get you some comfortable kicks.
3. Shuttle not Taxi - There’s a cheap shuttle from the airport that goes to all the hotels on the strip, and costs less than half what a taxi costs. So you can save your money to buy Tobsn some beers.
4. Coupons - You can get some hot coupons online for getting cheap/free stuff in Vegas. Just remember that the casinos make a metric fuckton of money from gambling so they want to do whatever possible to get you to take your business to their casino. The buffet’s alone in casinos are often better than normal restaurants in your hometown. Here are some spots for Vegas Coupons:

5. Bring a Jacket - it’s probably going to be a little chilly in vegas, so bring a jacket.
6. Bring a Bag - For all the free branded crap (called “schwag” apparently) you’ll be getting from companies in the exhibit hall.
7. Bring Business Cards - You’ll really want to get some made up. You can usually get them done locally on short-ish notice, if you’re happy with some tacky ass glossy cards or something. For professional looking stuff like the Cakes has, you’ll have to wait a couple days.
8. Bring Some Extra Cash - You never know when you’ll need it, even if you’re getting free meals from networks and stuff.
9. Get Cell Numbers - Probably best to do this even before you go. With so many people attending, it will be easy to get lost. Nickycakes won’t be posting his here, but anyone can hit him up on IRC for his number if they want to hang out.
10. Free Cigars - From Nickycakes. If you can find him and he has any left you can get one.
