Wow, time sure does fly. It’s already time for another Affiliate Summit East! This year it’s being held at the Hilton NYC again on August 15 – 17. Last year, Nicky did a pre-show writeup for ASE including where to stay, travel tips, and most importantly, good restaurants:
One big change from last years post is that Craftsteak apparently is gone :..(Â Sad day, but if you could help by putting good Manhattan steak suggestions in the comments, it would be appreciated.
Ok, so the important stuff about the show this year.
Speakers/Sessions
- The Keynote is by a guy named Frank Luntz who wrote a book called “Words That Work” which (although nickycakes hasn’t personally read it) is about how to get what you want by persuading people with their words (big surprise there). Apparently this guy is disliked by quite a few, which is not surprising since he’s a right wing “political consultant,” but Nickycakes thinks this makes him well suited for writing a book on manipulating words to get what you want, m i rite gaiz?! Like him or not, the keynote should be good if you are able to be out of bed by 9:45am on Monday.
Your friend Smaxor from Ads4Dough is giving a presentation on Sunday from 3-4pm called “More Money, Same Traffic, List Building & Paths.” If this doesn’t seem interesting to you, then you’re probably reading the wrong blog. Who doesn’t want to know how to make more money from their traffic, especially from an expert on the subject. Highly recommended. You’ll need a Gold, Platinum, or Diamond pass to get into this presentation.
Shoemoney will be doing a Facebook Ads presentation titled “Facebook Advertising From Soup to Nuts.” This session will be from 2-3pm on Monday. Nickycakes talked to Jeremy (shoemoney) earlier about the contents of this session, and it sounds like it won’t be your ordinary boring Facebook sales pitch where the Facebook employees end up at the microphone pitching their feature-lacking platform and avoiding questions about their worthless customer service and utter mismanagement of one of the best moneymaking opportunities to ever see the internet. Should be fun!! You can only get into this session with a Platinum or Diamond pass.
Josh Ziering, one of Nicky’s good friends in the industry who semi-recently did a guest post here called “Digging Deep Into Your SEO Toolbox” is doing a presentation on, you guessed it, SEO! But more specifically, Using Social Media for SEO. This is obviously geared more toward people doing SEO, which is good because a lot of affiliates are moving in that direction for some more stability these days, and Josh is really passionate about what he does, so it’s definitely worth attending. This session will be from 11:30am-12:30pm on Monday and you’ll need a Platinum or Diamond pass to attend.
There are plenty of other sessions, some good, some bad. With the exception of Josh’s session, avoid anything with the word “Social Media” or “Social Media Marketing” in the title, as these are generally self proclaimed “social media experts” (not a real job) who are desperately attempting to appear important as companies are starting to realize how little value they present to anyone and are smartly removing their budgets for that area.
One session Nickycakes found funny was the “Strategies for Marketing to Women” panel which is made up of all females. Nicky knows quite a few diet/cosmetic/teeth marketers who have done many 7fig months who could drop knowledge bombs 1000 times more powerful than whatever coupon site tips are probably going down in that session.
Passes!
One of the burning questions that Nicky gets asked quite a bit before each show is, “What pass should I get?”
The answer depends on what you want to get out of the show. Buy what you can afford. Here are the prices:
- Diamond Pass – $2,249
- Platinum Pass – $1,249
- Gold Pass – $549
- Silver Pass – $249
If you wait until the show to get a pass (they’re usually sold out by then anyway so good luck with that) then the prices go up to Diamond $2,749, Plat $1,749, Gold $749, Silver $449.
Normally Nickycakes recommends you shy away from the more expensive passes, but they’ve been upping the game lately with the value. With Diamond you get to put your logo on your name badge which isn’t exactly groudbreaking, but pretty cool and a sign to everyone that you’re a baller. Most affiliates don’t have logos made up for their companies, so you’re probably free to put whatever you want there. Nicky will be taking lots of pics as usual, and funny logos like stuff with hidden innuendos will be given special honor on the nickycakes.com wrapup post. Diamond also gets you into the express lane for registration kinda like you get the special security line when you fly first class.
You can check out the benefits of each of the 4 types of passes on the Affiliate Summit page, but the important thing to look at is which passes give you access to which sessions.
Silver gives you access to the Meet Market, Exhibit Hall, and Keynotes only, but is the cheapest by far. If you are broke, get this one.
Gold gives you access to the Silver pass stuff plus Sunday sessions (including Smaxor’s).
Platinum and Diamond give you access to ALL the sessions on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (including Josh and Shoemoney’s).
So if you’re poor, get Silver because the exhibit hall is by far the most valuable part of the show. If you make any money, get Gold so you can see at least Smax’s session which will be awesome. If you make good money then get Platinum, and if you’re ballin, then scoop a Diamond pass.
Parties
As usual, Nicky will be posting a list of the REAL affiliate summit parties as the show draws closer. The misconception is that NY does not provide decent venues for parties in comparison to the show in Vegas, but that’s simply not true. There have been some pretty sick industry parties in New York.
Again, you’re going to want to check out last years post for info on hotels, travel and restaurants.
To register for the show, click here and use coupon code ASE10Nicky10 for a 10% discount on ANY pass type.
Keep it real.

Quality Meats is a place we hit last time, was epic.
Both of the “click here” links above are broken. Not that I need the coupon. Just sayin’
Hi, thanks for this information and tips as well.
quality meats is great….also peter luger’s is pretty fucking amazing but its in brooklyn.
Looking forward to seeing you there man.
I know CraftSteak closed, but they’ve reopened as
Colicchio And Sons. Not sure what the differences in the menu are. I’ve heard about CraftSteak but never been.
Their site is

Id recommend hosting a party at the Gansevoort, that place was chock full of models last time.. always a good look.
Gansevoort is so euro trash, if you want a hotel party go to The Standard.
Obviously you have way to much of testosterone floating around in your brain if you think that women in affiliate marketing that run coupon sites or any sites aren't as qualified as you or any other man in affiliate marketing to teach others how to make money in affiliate marketing. Maybe you should try sitting in on the "Strategies for Marketing to Women" and learn something before making fun of it. I've attended many boring, dull, and useless seminars presented by men and came away with nothing.
Try Delmonicos downtown in Wall Street. I've been there a few times with my parents (who work nearby) and its fantastic. Far better than the average expense account dinner.
If you are into something weird and kitschy check out Peanut Butter & Co. on Bleeker. Its surprisingly good.
